We believe that all Maine women and girls must have equal rights, equal opportunity, and the power to direct their own lives. They should have access to economic security, physical and mental well-being, and lives free from discrimination and violence. Maine women and girls should live with justice, equity, and privacy. But today:  55% of households headed by women live in poverty; over 50% of homicides in Maine are related to domestic violence; and, women still earn only 77 cents for every dollar that men do.
